Our Community Partners

FSCS El Centro collaborates with local school districts and community organizations to support high-needs schools in Lake County, transforming them into vibrant hubs of education and community engagement. With partners ranging from higher education institutions to community-based organizations, we provide resources and opportunities that empower students and families.

Community Partners

(Non-LEA)

Our Community Partners bring a wealth of resources and expertise, making a lasting impact on both districts. Our collaborators include four higher learning institutions – Rosalind Franklin University School of Medicine, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Northeastern Illinois University, and the College of Lake County – and eight community-based organizations. These include the Lake County Regional Office of Education, Mano a Mano Family Resource Center, Boys and Girls Club, Together for Childhood Network, YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago (Lake County), Lake County Health Department, Local Learning, and North Chicago Community Partners. Together, we’re transforming these schools into vibrant hubs of community engagement, where educational and social resources empower students and their families

Impact on Our Community

This grant serves to significantly enhance the educational landscape of Lake County, Illinois by providing:

  • Increased early learning opportunities

Early learning opportunities are crucial for children's development and laying the foundation for future academic success. Through the FSCS grant, we will offer more programs, early childhood education resources, and developmental support to ensure that children are well-prepared for early education and beyond. This initiative includes partnerships with local early childhood centers and educators to provide a seamless transition into the school system.

  • Expanded cross-agency coordination for community intervention

The FSCS grant enables us to work closely with social services and community organizations to develop and implement comprehensive violence prevention and intervention programs. These efforts aim to create safer school environments and support students who may be affected by violence in their communities.

  • Enhanced support for students' academic and personal growth

Students' academic performance is deeply connected to their personal growth and well-being. With the FSCS grant, we will provide additional resources such as mentoring and after-school programs to support students academically.

We are committed to leveraging this opportunity to create a

positive, lasting impact on our students and the community.
