The Master of Arts in Education program will prepare you to assume leadership roles within and beyond the classroom. The coursework is entirely online, allowing our students to complete the degree at their own pace. Coursework focuses on areas such as teaching methodology, online teaching and learning, leadership, technology, research, curriculum/ instruction, assessment, best practices, school improvement, school law, and a master's closure project. It is characterized by lectures, text reading, discussions, and projects, with emphasis on reflection and writing. Courses meet the requirement for teacher certificate renewal.

Admission Requirements

  • Acceptance to UIS Graduate School as either degree-seeking or non-degree-seeking.

  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0/4.0 for full admission

  • Undergraduate GPA of 2.5/4.0 for conditional admission

  • Have all transcripts sent to UIS.
