Environmental Studies, MS

The MS degree in Environmental Studies provides advanced interdisciplinary training designed to prepare students for solving environmental problems and entering diverse careers in the environmental field. Students elect an area of specialization in Environmental Planning & Management, Sustainable Development & Policy, or General Environmental Sciences. All students may concurrently earn a graduate certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).Graduates find careers as environmental planners or policy analysts, resource management specialists, land use and urban planners, environmental protection specialists, and GIS specialists, working in government, not-for-profit agencies, industry, or academia.

Admission Requirements

  • Students must hold a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university, with a GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale), and have had an upper division, undergraduate course in ecology with a grade of B or better for full admission to the program.

  • Students who are deficient in the ecology course prerequisite or who have a GPA between 2.5 and 3.0 will be considered for conditional admission.

  • If conditional admission is granted, the student will be required to satisfy conditions for full admission within the first year of enrollment in the program.

  • Does not require the GRE.
