NEIU provides the opportunity for transfer students in the Lake County region to complete their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree close to home at the University Center.

On-Site Advising

The NEIU Transfer Center at the University Center is located in Room 220B.  NEIU Transfer Center Coordinator is available to meet with prospective students at the University Center on Mondays from 11 am to 7 pm and Wednesdays from 10 am to 6 pm.  Please call or email Molly Weisman to set up an appointment:

Transfer Scholarships

NEIU offers a variety of financial and scholarship opportunities.  You can view the various options at www.neiu.edu/scholarships or by emailing the Office of Scholarships at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

The following are specific transfer scholarships: 


1.  Provost Merit Scholarship
Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 will be awarded to prospective transfers who meet the following criteria and who apply early for admission.  Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come first-serve basis:

    Admitted entering transfer students with an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science (or who have earned at least 60 credit hours)
    Must have at least a cumulative transfer GPA of 3.50
    Must be an Illinois resident
    Must be enrolled full time

2.  Deans Merit Scholarship
Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to prospective transfers who meet the following criteria and who apply early for admission.  Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come first-serve basis:

    Admitted entering transfer students with an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science (or who have earned at least 60 credit hours)
    Must have at least a cumulative transfer GPA of 3.00
    Must be an Illinois resident

Until all of the scholarships are awarded, students who meet these qualifications will automatically be considered for the Provost and Deans Merit Scholarships at the time of applying for admission to Northeastern Illinois University.  Completing an additional application is not necessary.  Scholarship criteria are effective for the 2012-2013 academic year.

3.  NEIU Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
A minimum of 3.0 GPA and an A.A. or A.S. degree are required.  Out-of-state students, part-time students, students with pervious bachelor’s degrees, and non-US citizens who are not a permanent resident are not eligible.  Verification and recommendation from a Phi Theta Kappa advisor are required.  The application deadline is March 15.  For information please email the Office of Scholarships at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
