The faculty lounge has been repurposed to house the College of Lake County’s Workforce & Professional Development Institute while CLC completes Grayslake construction projects. Faculty looking for a quiet work area are invited to use the library, which includes multiple computers, multiple carrels, and electrical outlets for those using their own laptops. Typically the library is open from noon to 8 pm, Monday through Thursday. Faculty who need access at other times should contact the receptionist by visiting the front desk or dialing 4008 from a house phone to unlock the library.
A few lockable mobile units providing storage for books and materials are available for faculty members for a semester. “Mobies” can be readily wheeled to your classroom and are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact John Schultz (847/665-4010) to reserve one.
Copying and Printing
Some member institutions authorize faculty to bill them for class materials copied or printed at the University Center. If your institution has provided that option, the receptionist in the first floor student services area will have an ExpressPay card for your department’s use. Ask the receptionist for the appropriate ExpressPay card and be sure to fill in the logbook tracking your use of it. Download the user guide below for more information.
Accrediting bodies require that the institution offering an academic program meet the library needs of the students and faculty of that program. That requirement, coupled with serious cuts in the Center’s state appropriation, led to the elimination of the Center’s librarian position and a de-commissioning of the University Center library. The Center’s collection (which is primarily children’s literature to support the teaching preparation programs offered through the Center) remains available for use. Please contact Hilary Ward Schnadt (847) 665-4004 if you have any questions about library services.
